Wolfe Tones GAC is delighted to announce the re-introduction of our juvenile Gaelic Football provision which will begin on Sunday 18th April at 11am for Under 6s and Under 8s and at 12noon for Under 10s.
We recently applied to affiliate to the Ladies Gaelic Football Association which will enable us to field separate girls teams. Ladies Gaelic Football differs slightly from the men’s game; for example, Ladies Gaelic is a non-contact sport where opposing players may only tackle the ball, and not the player in possession and the ball can be lifted directly8 from the ground.
GAA rules mean that girls and boys can play in mixed teams only until the age of 12. By separating these codes at an earlier point we can ensure that girls in Greencastle and Newtownabbey are able to form their own team structures, develop as a group and progress to competitive games at Under 12 with realistic expectations of how they will perform.
