Mallusk GAA Pitches

We welcome Belfast City Council’s decision to approve ball-stops and spectator fencing for the public pitches at Mallusk last night. This is a positive step in the ongoing project to develop two additional pitches in the area after much lobbying and advocacy by local Gaelic games clubs.

However, while we acknowledge this progress, it’s crucial to highlight the need for a structured and strategic approach to end inequality in North Belfast and Newtownabbey. We need more facilities that local Gaels can access and enjoy.

It’s noteworthy that Belfast City Council is now building facilities within Antrim and Newtownabbey’s geographical jurisdiction, while that council continues to refuse to create a single GAA facility. It’s time for Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council to move into the 21st century and do the right thing for our community.
