Wolfe Tones selected for LGFA Club2Gether

Wolfe Tones GAC is one of 20 clubs chosen nationwide to be selected for the Ladies Gaelic Football Association’s prestigious Club2Gether programme.

The initiative focuses on developing areas such as volunteer recruitment and retention, governance & officer training, games development and sponsorship and fundraising, while also planning for the future to ensure sustainable and long-term structures are in place.

The clubs selected hail from the four provinces and represent 18 counties, including eight from Ulster, five from Leinster, four from Munster and three from Connacht.

Free training will now be provided to officers and coaches in the various clubs, who will also receive resources to assist with building sustainable structures.

In addition, a basic two-year plan will be put in place for clubs wishing to avail of it, with the aim of increasing the retention rates of volunteers, to help ensure that clubs can become more vibrant and active in their local communities.

The programme will get underway next month, and continue into the spring of 2023.

Speaking to mark the announcement, LGFA President Mícheál Naughton said: “The LGFA’s Club2Gether programme provides the ideal opportunity for clubs to develop their structures both on and off the field.

“The programme is aimed at struggling and established clubs looking to improve, and potential new clubs looking to form.

“Club2Gether can assist in building solid club foundations, while also renovating existing ones.

“There’s high-quality, role-specific training available for club administrators and coaches, and we’re very much looking forward to working with the 20 participating clubs.”
