Get Back in the Game is the new programme from Wolfe Tones GAC aimed at getting women back into Ladies Gaelic Football, if they’re new to the area, if they’ve been away from the sport for a while or if they’re completely new to Gaelic Football or any kind of sport.
What is Ladies Gaelic Football?
It’s a team sport with 15 players on each side. The aim is to outscore your opponents with points and goals. It’s a lot like the men’s version but with less contact and a few different rules changes. It’s incredibly easy to pick up the basics like kicking and passing.
Our programme will focus on introducing the basic of the game, the skills you’ll need to compete. We’ll be using the excellent facilities at Ulster University Sports Village.
Wolfe Tones is a community based club in the North Belfast and Newtownabbey area. We are completely inclusive and welcoming and we are dedicated to improving the lives of our members through Gaelic sports and culture.
What happens afterwards?
There are two possible paths afterwards, our Ladies Senior Team compete in the Antrim Leagues and Championship. If you’ve got that competitive streak this might be the perfect path for you. If you’re just looking a more recreational path though, we cater for that too. Our Gaelic 4 Mothers & Other programme is a social group which play in non-competitive blitzes and train just for the enjoyment and friendship.
How do I sign up?
