Wolfe Tones GAA

An Caislan Glas

Gaelfheis na Casca

Wolfe Tones GAC are proud to announce that we will run the inaugural GaelFheis na Casca festival in Greencastle and neighbouring districts from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th April 2022.

The festival will open with a talk from noted historian Dr Donal McAnallen on the history of the GAA in Ulster and will conclude with another event featuring Dr Eamon Phoenix giving an account of the life of antiquarian and Gaelic Revivalist Francis Joseph Bigger.

In between, there will be Irish language classes for adults and children, a ceilí session, children’s Gaelic football blitz and the club’s unique internal football tournament which brings together all adult sections of the club for a mixed-gender zero contact blitz on Sunday 24th. A range of other events will also be announced over the coming days.

The festival highlight perhaps will be the screening of Laochra Gael in Edmund Rice College featuring Antrim Hurling legend Terence “Sambo” McNaughton followed by a Q&A with the man himself, compered by BBC Radio Ulster’s Lynette Fay.

Wolfe Tones would like to thank Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council for the support provided in organising and funding these events.
